A Calaveras County Sheriff deputy was attacked by a man along Highway 4 in Arnold last night.
Deputy Morgan Drew says as he questioned a man who had been seen walking along the highway, the man – believed to be Jason Taylor – became combative and struck at the deputy. Pepper spray was not effective on subduing the 36 year-old man. After a struggle, Drew and another deputy were able to take the suspect into custody. Investigators believe the man was under the influence of methamphetamine, marijuana and alcohol during the altercation. Deputy Drew sustained a cut to his nose and other minor injuries and was treated at Mark Twain Hospital. The man, who´s identity was yet to be confirmed, was booked on $60,000 bail.
