A man and three children died yesterday afternoon when their car slammed into a Calaveras Unified School District delivery van on rain-soaked Highway 12 west of San Andreas.
The CHP has not release the names of the victims yet, but according to the Stockton Record, the oldest of the three children appeared to be about 7 years old.
California Highway Patrol Lt. Les Quinn said the car was registered to a Valley Springs resident.
Two of the children killed in the accident attended Valley Springs Elementary School. One was in the second grade and the other was in kindergarten. That´s according to Calaveras Unified´s district superintendent Jim Frost.
Two people riding in the school van sustained moderate injuries, but authorities would not release their names.
