Lawmakers Want Fewer Strip Malls For State

An Assembly committee is set to take up a bill today that lawmakers hope will encourage cities to build more homes and fewer strip malls. Under the bill, cities and counties would trade half of their sales taxes to the state every year for a larger chunk of property taxes.
