Missing Girl Found

A 13 year old girl who disappeared from a Modesto home more than a week ago was found Wednesday in Corning. Modesto police say Maria Karina Rodriguez was being taken back to Modesto Wednesday night. She´ll be held in protective custody while police investigate the case. Authorities are still looking for Regino Bautista, a man in his 40´s who police believe may have taken the girl.

Police believe the girl and her 16 year old sister ran away from their home south of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They think Bautista helped the girls run away, and helped them slip across the border illegally. The three arrived in Modesto about a month ago. They were staying with the girls´ relatives, but Bautista and the younger girl disappeared from the home last Tuesday.
