Higher Premium Increases For CAL-PERS

Sponsored by:

The California Public Employees Retirement System is expected today to approve higher premium increases for city, county and school workers. All 1.3-million workers insured by Cal-PERS will see double-digit increases in premiums in 2004. But Northern California workers are expected to be hit the hardest. That´s because health-care costs are higher here than in the south state.

The plan to set different premium rates for workers in the north state and south state has been approved by the Cal-PERS health committee. It goes for a vote today before the full Cal-PERS board.
