California Republican Congressman Doug Ose of Sacramento has been a possible candidate for the U.S. Senate next year.
But Ose now says he won´s run for the Senate or seek re-election to the House.
Ose announced he plans to spend more time with this family. “While I may pursue public office again in the future, I have come to the conclusion that this is not my time to seek higher office,” Ose said in a writen statement released Friday.
“I did not make my decision due to a lack of support or financial commitments, but because of my strong desire to be a good husband and father.”
The congressman said he will also honor a pledge to not serve more than three House terms. “As in previous races, I considered what impact a competitive race would have on my family. I came to the conclusion that I could not run for the U.S. Senate without compromising my responsibility to family and constituents.”
