Sponsored by:

A Sonora agency is the latest target of the state´s budget axe. This time its the Central Sierra Arts Council that is feeling the impact of a $32 billion California budget shortfall.

The center´s office and gallery on South Green Street will close it´s doors and two staff members will be looking for other work.

The closure is effective June 30, the end of this fiscal year. New art council director Deanna Dechaine will stay on. A smaller arts council office is planned. Where it will be located has yet to be determined.
