Protest Against Governor Planned
Proponents of an effort to recall Gov. Gray Davis are planning to protest a golf fundraiser for the governor set for Friday. Former state Republican party chairman Shawn Steel is organizing the protest at Tehama Golf Course in Carmel. He´s asking supporters of the recall to show up at the fund raiser and “hold Gray´s feet to the fire.”
Proponents say they plan to videotape Davis contributors as they enter the golf course.
Efforts to recall Davis have stalled over a lack of money. But the effort got a boost earlier this month when Republican Congressman Darrell Issa contributed $100,000.
Davis has dismissed the recall as Issa´s attempt to circumvent the election process and become governor himself.
