They left their jobs and families to travel miles along the hot, dusty roads of Iraq, exchange gunfire with Saddam Hussein´s troops, and help secure Baghdad.
Yesterday, nearly 300 members of the Second Battalion, 23rd Marines returned home to spouses, children and the lives they left behind. The battalion was called to duty 15 months ago from homes across the western United States. It was the Marine Corps´ only reserve battalion to see combat in the war against Iraq.
