Fire Grows In Yosemite
About 200 firefighters are battling a wildfire that has consumed about 1,700 acres in Yosemite National Park.
What´s being called the “Meadow Fire” was sparked by lightning and is burning near Glacier Point Road in the park. It´s one of nine fires burning in Yosemite.
A park spokesman says the fire is sending heavy smoke into the air above Yosemite Valley. He added visitors to the park should expect smoky conditions that may impact their experience in the park. Yosemite Valley, particularly in the night and morning, will see smoke that will impair views of the valley. While Yosemite National Park remains open through all park entrances, there are several closures in effect. Smoke in the valley should lift by late morning.
