Highway 120 was closed down briefly this afternoon when members of the Calaveras County Bomb Squad detonated a possible explosive device found this morning attached to a road sign along the highway near Groveland.
Tuolumne Sheriffs spokesman Sergeant Roger Dittberner says the device appeared to be plastic squeeze type bottle completely wrapped in duct tape with two wires coming out of it. He says the device was found hanging off a road sign at Memorial Drive. The bomb squad detonated the device on the sign. Fire units were called in as well.
The case is under investigation at this time.
