Work on the Silver Rapids realignment project on Highway 26 outside Valley Springs is still on schedule.
Rumors residents have heard swirling around the area suggested the completion date for the project had been pushed back to March 2005, but that´s not the case says CalTrans engineer Mike Hutchison.
The realignment was ordered because of a “blind” corner drivers experienced when traveling the highway. Hutchison says it´s a safety project.
Hutchison says crews should be finished with the utility work this week and Granite Construction should be returning to the site and shave off a hillside at the Silver Rapids and Highway 26 intersection.
