Flu Vaccine Shortage Aftermath Continues

Sponsored by:

The state´s top health official has ordered doctors and health care workers to reserve flu shots for high-risk patients such as the elderly and young children.

Doctor Richard Jackson says the state is not yet facing a public health emergency, but that the move is an effort to save a limited supply of flu vaccines in California.

State officials say they expect to have almost four million doses from another supplier for use this season.

But they have warned it was not enough for everyone considered to be in high-risk categories.

Meanwhile, officials in Santa Clara County have declared a state of emergency.

They say they need to prioritize who gets the vaccine in Santa Clara County.
