It was a not-guilty plea entered in Calaveras County Superior Court yesterday for a woman accused of killing an elderly Arnold man last month.
42-year-old Patricia Anne Ordway, the former part-time housekeeper of 77-year-old Ray Shires, made the not guilty plea to charges of forgery, murder, and inflicting unjustifiable pain on an elder or dependant adult.
Shires was found dead in the parking lot of a tire shop in Avery nearly a month ago.
Ordway was arrested for forgery charges a week after the murder, and was re-arrested for first degree murder charges last week in the case.
