Suspect Arrested For Drugs, Threats, Shooting

A call of shots fired in the downtown Mokelumne Hill area late Friday night netted Calaveras County Sheriff´s Deputies one arrest.

Deputies contacted the victim in the case, who said the suspect, 50-year-old David Eardley, had pointed a semi-automatic handgun at his face and then fired a shot into the ground near his feat.

Eardley also allegedly yelled “I´m going to kill you” at the 52-year-old victim.

A search of the suspect´s house led deputies to find a gun believed to be the one used in the shooting, and several small plastic bags containing marijuana.

The Calaveras County Narcotics Enforcement Unit took over the investigation.

Deputies then stopped Eardley as he was driving past his residence on MiWok Trail.

Eardley faces charges including assault with a semi-automatic handgun, criminal threats, brandishing a handgun, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving with a suspended license, and driving under the influence of a narcotic.

He also had outstanding warrants out of Sacramento County.
