Driver Rescued After Groveland Roadway Fails

Sponsored by:

An overnight rope rescue saved a truck driver who´d spent hours upside down, pinned inside his vehicle in the Groveland area.

The driver´s name has not been released.

The CDF says a group of trucks were delivering materials to reinforce the roadway on Lumsden Road when the ground under one of the trucks gave way.

The truck went about 150 feet down an embankment.

It was about an hour before anyone noticed the driver was missing.

He suffered two broken legs, and had an injured shoulder and some bruised ribs.

The first call came to rescuers around 9pm, and the driver was freed from the truck around 3:30am.

He´s been taken to a hospital in Stanford.

There´s no word so far on his condition.
