Amtrak Train Stuck In Blizzard
An Amtrak passenger train that was stuck in a blizzard is expected to finally arrive in Emeryville around mid-morning.
About 300 passengers and 15 crewmembers were stranded on the westbound California Zephyr for more than 14 hours near Truckee. An Amtrak spokesman says two cars left the track as the train tried to make its way through heavy snow.
Nobody was hurt in the derailment and the passengers and crew had power, lights, food and water while crews worked to free the train.
Amtrak says the Zephyr may run into additional delays before it finally arrives in the Bay Area, because freight traffic in the area is backed up from the bad weather.
