Columbia Boy Safe After Kidnapping

A car jacking and child abduction took place in Columbia late yesterday afternoon has ended with the abducted 4 year-old boy safe, his father in custody in Butte County jail.

Tuolumne County Sheriffs Department spokesman Sgt. Roger Dittberner says the boy´s father — 22 year-old Ben Kikugawa — took his 4 year old son from the mother yesterday afternoon around 5 p.m, upset over a restraining order. Authorities say no weapons were used in the abduction.

The boy was taken to the Chico area last night and was eventually dropped off at his uncle´s home in Butte County.

Authorities located the suspect around 1:30 a.m. this morning.

Dittberner says an Amber Alert was issued, but later retracted when they determined the boy´s life was NOT in imminent danger.
