Election Outcome Could Shuffle City Government

Sponsored by:

The primary election is now less than two weeks away, and between the City of Sonora and Tuolumne County District One, an interesting conundrum has emerged.

Incumbent Larry Rotelli is running against candidate Randall Selesia and Liz Bass, who currently sits on the Sonora City Council.

So what would happen if Bass should win in County District One? Officials at the county clerk´s office say, due to a conflict of interest, Bass would have to step down from her council seat.

In turn, that seat would need to be filled within 30 days, either by calling for a special election or by appointment.

You can hear AM-1450 KVML´s Special Candidates Forums, for the city and county election candidates, coming up next week.
