Expect Hard Going On Mountain Roads

Sponsored by:

Law enforcement agencies from the Sierra across much of northern Nevada are telling motorists that if they don´t have to go out this morning, they shouldn´t. In some cases, in the upper elevations…. they can´t.

Chains or snow tires are required on all roads in the mountains. If you are planning on doing traveling this morning U.S. 50 is closed at Meyers and chains are mandatory on Interstate-80. For the most part, chains or snow tires are required from the California line north of Reno all the way south to Bridgeport, California.

The snowfall has slowed, but forecasters say more is on the way.

A winter storm warning remains in effect in the Sierra for another foot or so expected today. Things should taper off to scattered snow showers by tomorrow.
