Two people died and two others critically injured in two motorcycle accidents that happened within two miles of each other in Tuolumne County yesterday afternoon

The first accident, a double fatal, happened on O´Byrnes Ferry Road.

The two deceased were identified as Tracy residents: a 50-year-old man and his 43-year-old wife. The man was the driver. Their names were not released pending notification of their relatives.

According to CHP reports, the pair were on a motorcycle headed west on Highway 120 at 1:57 p.m. when a Chevrolet Van on O´Byrnes Ferry Road turned left in front of the pair. The driver of the van was from Columbia.

The riders were thrown from the bike and died at the scene. Highway 120 was closed for two hours while the accident was investigated.

The second crash was reported at 2:20 p.m. on Highway 108, just north of Highway 120. CHP reports said that a motorcycle carrying two people hit a Honda Accord. Both motorcyclists were taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, where they were listed in critical condition.

Highway 108 was shut down in both directions for an hour while the accident was cleared from the roadway.
