Calaveras County Dips Into Cash Reserves
Calaveras county has used up its general fund and is dipping into its cash reserve.
Warned that their 2003/2004 budget is in trouble, Calaveras County officials have agreed to look into a modified hiring freeze, a voluntary time-off program, and a freeze on non-essential travel.
The Calaveras Enterprise reports Calaveras county Auditor Linda Churches says if the matter is ignored, the county would be forced to cut 13 percent of next year´s budget.
Today, the Calaveras supervisors could decide to reschedule their weekly meetings to Monday mornings and to do – away with their Monday night sessions.
