Two Stockton area residents drowned Sunday in New Hogan Lake. Both bodies have now been recovered.
A Calaveras County Sheriffs Department spokesmen says 23 year-old Amelia Delsie had been swimming with a 2 year-old child near the Whiskey Creek Day Use area Sunday evening when she began to struggle. Authorities say she was able to push the baby to safety.
That´s when 23 year-old Adam Dawson dove in and tried to reach the woman but also ran into trouble and drowned. Delsie´s body was recovered by divers Monday evening.
A Sheriff´s spokesman says cold water temperatures, hovering around 50 degrees at the time, may have played a role in the drownings.
