Starting Saturday, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will require permits for all burning.
Also, starting this weekend, hours for burning are restricted to between 7pm and 8am on permissive burn days only.
Officials also ask residents to be extra careful when burning yard debris, since above-normal temperatures, low humidity, and windy conditions have caused a number of debris burns to escape.
Tips from the CDF include:
-never burn on windy days
-keep burn piles to a diameter of 4-feet or less
-clear at least 10 feet on all sides around a burn pile
-and stay in attendance at all times with a shovel and water source close by
