Boxer Requests Federal Fire Money
Senator Barbara Boxer has called on the Bush Administration to immediately release 110-million dollars, already budgeted for fire prevention in California.
In a letter this week to Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman says, Boxer says since the fire season has started so much earlier than in years past, the money is “absolutely essential”.
According to the letter, the emergency funds have been available since January 23rd and should have already been disbursed.
Also, Boxer pointed out that last season, California worked with federal officials when the time came to match the government payments.
