Three people were arrested after a shootout Tuesday at a high school in Merced wounded two teens.

19-year-old Julio Najar is reported in stable condition at a Modesto hospital. A 17-year-old girl was less seriously injured.

Police say they believe the shooting to be gang-related.

20-year-old David Villafan was arrested on charges of attempted murder and probation violation, and was booked into Merced County Jail.

20-year-old Edgar Garcia, and 22-year-old Roy Garcia were also arrested and booked on weapons charges.

Officials say the Garcias are brothers, and were friends of one of the victims. They may have been trying to retaliate for the shooting but were stopped by police.
