Tuesday morning the city of Sonora will have a new police chief.
Final approval of the new lawman to replace retiring chief Duane Ellis has been made by city officials. But who it is is not being made public until Tuesday morning following a final closed session at 9 a.m. by the city council.
MyMotherLode.com broke the news of the new top cop last week.
Sonora City Administrator Greg Applegate says the new chief is currently head of a police department in Northern California. His first day on the beat here will be June 21st.
