First Of Several Pacific Storms To Hit Mother Lode Today
Sacramento, CA — The first of several storms to move through the Mother Lode this week is expected to arrive today.
Forecasters say the storm will cause moderate to heavy rain later this morning and then taper off to showers by this afternoon.
The National Weather Service says strong, gusty winds are also likely along with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms.
More than a foot of snow could fall above the 7000 foot level. Additional Pacific storms are expected to bring more heavy rain into the northern part of the state later this week.
Forecasters say flood warnings are in effect for portions of the Sacramento Valley and holiday travel could be affected for the New Years weekend.
Motorists are advised to be prepared for stormy weather and to check the latest weather reports before traveling.
