Sonora Area Foundation Reports Banner Year

Sonora, CA — After supporting several area projects, the Sonora Area Foundation has passed a landmark this year.

During 2005, the foundation awarded more than $1.15 million in grants and scholarships, including more than $200,000 in competitive grants to local non-profits.

The Foundation´s Executive Director Mick Grimes attributes the banner year to the growing level of community donors using the Foundation´s services.

He adds that with ongoing support from the Irving J. Symons Foundation, next year´s levels should be even better than this year´s.

The Foundation expects to award more than $470,000 in competitive grants next year.

Among the projects supported over the last year were the holiday food basket program, The Jamestown Family Resources Center and the High Country Sports arena among many others.

The Sonora Area Foundation celebrated its 15 year anniversary this year.
