Pinecrest, CA — The first day of skiing at Dodge Ridge is turning out to be a success.
Although there was a slow start to the winter weather spokesman Paul Jones says close to 1,000 people turned out for the opening today.
The first major storm of the season has dumped between 18 and 24 inches of new snow on the mountain, allowing the area to open before Christmas.
Jones says Monday and Tuesday will officially begin the Holiday season, bringing a steady flow of skiers to the mountain through New Years Day.
