Sacramento, CA — California´s death toll of horses infected with West Nile Virus has reached the 200 mark.
The 200th horse to die from the virus was located in Santa Clara County.
However, analysts say the numbers of infections and deaths among the state´s horses are down about 15% from last year.
State health officials are urging horse owners to have their animals vaccinated now in order to make sure immunity is established before the weather warms up in the spring.
