Columbia State Historic Park Wins National Award
Columbia, CA — Columbia State Historic Park is the new recipient of the Phoenix Award for preservation.
The Society of American Travel Writers presented the park with the award for its role in preserving California´s Gold Rush history. Dave Gould with the park says Columbia was one of only four sites to receive the award this year.
Park officials and supporters of the park were honored for their work in restoring the Knapp Block, which houses the park museum and several historic storefronts.
Gould says the $3.5 million rehabilitation project began in 2002 and was completed last March.
