Board To Consider Johnson Vacancy Next Week

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors has scheduled for next Tuesday a discussion on how to fill the soon-to-be vacant Auditor-Controller position.

Current Auditor Tim Johnson submitted a letter of resignation last month.

At today´s board meeting, County Administrator Brent Wallace advised that the board can immediately appoint the current Assistant Controller Debi Russell to fill the vacancy.

The panel also has the option of taking applications and recruiting a candidate by a majority vote, or making an interim appointment to fill the unexpired term.

Wallace told the board that any interim appointee would have full duties and responsibilities of the office of Auditor-Controller.

He added that if the board decides to conduct a recruitment, applications must be taken and all interviews would have to be conducted in an open board meeting.

Johnson´s retirement is effective December 30th, his term expires in January of 2007.
