Yosemite Fund Honors Youth Leader

Yosemite National Park, CA — Youth Conservation Corps leader Bill Thomas is the 2005 recipient of The Yosemite Fund Award for his work with young people.

The annual honor is given to a member of the Yosemite community by the nonprofit Yosemite Fund for efforts to improve the park or the visitor experience.

Thomas has been called “Yosemite´s Champion of Youth,” “overwhelmingly committed to young people,” and an “unsung hero.” Organizers say the YCC provides students ages 14-16 with summer jobs focused on park conservation projects.

The Yosemite Fund has raised more than $35 million for 200 wilderness, wildlife and cultural projects in the park.
