Sacramento, CA — Assemblyman Dave Cogdill and several other legislators are gearing up for the 5th Bi-Annual rural education summit later this week.
The summit will be held at Fish Camp near Yosemite National Park Thursday and Friday.
The summit is designed to highlight and examine the needs of rural schools within the current state and federal education policies.
The event will feature panelist discussions on various education topics such as the achievement gap between rural and urban students, after school programs and the “No Child Left Behind Act.”
Other topics to be addressed are budget shortfalls, transportation and college preparation.
Cogdill is hosting the event along with the 40-member California State Legislature Rural Caucus.
The summit is expected to draw 150 to 200 participants.
