Copper Mill Project Goes To Commission

Copperopolis, CA — The long awaited environmental paperwork on a proposed retail center in Copperopolis is ready for a vote.
Thursday the Calaveras County Planning Commission will make a decision on the Copper Mill project being proposed by developer Castle & Cooke Calaveras. It is a 27-acre mixed-use community center at Highway 4 and Little John Road.
If approved, the project would be sent to the Board of Supervisors for consideration.
A draft of the plan was released in September and a public comment period ended in October. Those comments have been included in the final report.
Even after mitigation, the report identifies significant and unavoidable impacts to roads, plant species, views and air quality.
