Angels Camp Man Killed In Crash
Murphys, CA — Forty-eight year old Daniel Perkins of Angels Camp was fatally injured Thursday when a big rig lost control of its load on Utica Grade.
The three-axle truck, driven by Larry Clark of Utah, was towing a lightly loaded trailer westbound on Highway 4. While trying to negotiate a curve, Clark´s brakes locked up due to the wet pavement, the California Highway Patrol said.
The trailer entered the oncoming lane of traffic and into the path of Perkins´ Ford diesel pick up. He was killed instantly.
A Ford Expedition driven by 64 year old Sandra Spicer of Murphys was following Perkins. Due to the blunt force of the trailer´s impact, Perkins´ pick up was knocked back into Spicer´s Expedition. She was taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital in San Andreas where she was treated and released.
The highway was closed for two and a half hours and traffic was routed down Power House Road.
