Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Health officials report only two new cases of West Nile infection in horses last week as the season begins to wane.

Last week´s cases bring the total number of equine infections in the state this year to just over 440. That compares to about 470 last year.

Officials say the rate of infections this season is coming down thanks to vaccinations.

As this year´s season draws to a close, officials are expressing concern for next year.

Veterinarians are urging horse owners to vaccinate their animals every year.
