Sonora, CA — The Forest Service is hoping that the hundreds of people who participated in the Centennial Celebration Saturday now feel closer to the Forest.
The public was invited to join several different Forest agencies to celebrate its Centennial event at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.
The event featured music, theater, and numerous demonstrations including a man using a chain saw to make benches. Mule and lama packers were on hand to introduce their animals and show their skill in packing these animals for the trail.
Pat Kaunert, with the forest service, says the event commemorated the agency´s history and highlighted the many connections between the community and the National Forests.
