Standard, CA — Students at Curtis Creek Elementary School will present the American Red Cross with a check for $4,000 tomorrow at a ceremony at 8:30am.
Teachers say the student council at the school in Standard came up with the idea to help out the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
With the help of students, parents, and staff the goal of $1,000 was met on the first day. Organizers say they had to keep moving the goal higher, until the end of the fund raising.
Andy´s Hardware also helped out by lending the school their coin roller to take care of the thousands of coins they collected.
