Stanislaus County Fire Fighters Battle Three Blazes

Sponsored by:

Modesto, CA — Officials say one of three fires that burned in Stanislaus County yesterday appears to be arson.

Fire Fighters say the blaze began in a field of grass in Oakdale next to a construction supply store.

The fire reportedly spread quickly to the edge of the building before crews snuffed it out. Officials say less than an acre was burned and no structures were damaged.

The second fire occurred about an hour later south of Riverbank in a brushy area. Authorities say it devoured a large wood pile in a field and threatened a farm house.

Another blaze near Hughson reportedly destroyed a large barn containing farm equipment and recreational vehicles.

Stanislaus County fire officials say the increased fire danger was caused by very dry and windy conditions in the San Joaquin Valley.

No injuries were reported in any of the three fires.
