Three Fires Salvage Decision Notice Issued

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Forest Service is announcing a Decision Notice to implement the Three Fires Salvage project on the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest.

The decision to implement Environmental Assessment Alternative 1 salvages up to 900 thousand board feet of dead, dying, and hazardous trees damaged by the 2004 Creek, Early, and Tuolumne Fires.

The project is located approximately 6 to 15 miles east of Groveland and will occur on 195 acres. The project is designed to capture the economic value of trees killed by the fires and reduce safety hazards presented by dead and dying trees along 4.5 miles of roads.

A copy of the Decision Notice is available by contacting Groveland District Ranger John Swanson at 24545 Highway 120; Groveland, CA 95321 or by telephone at (209) 962-7825.
