Sonora, CA — Hundreds of fans, parents and students packed the stands at Dunlavy Field to watch the Sonora Wildcats play their first football game on the new field turf Friday.
Even though Johansen defeated Sonora 7 to 6, everyone was still excited to be at the game. One man said he does not have a child on the team but loves the environment, especially with the new field.
The Cheerleaders said they are ready for the season and added that they have a great team, and a great field. Coach Craig was also on hand to talk about the teams´ future, he said the guys have been hitting the weight room hard and they get better every day.
Vice principal Ed Pelfry remembers when the field was a muddy mess last season and is pumped up for the season. Sonora is scheduled to take on Merced this Friday.
