Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — A new poll is showing that the majority of Californians continue to give President Bush low marks for his job performance.

According to a survey released today by the nonpartisan Field Poll, 55 percent of the people asked say they disapprove of the president´s job performance.

38 percent approved and seven percent had no opinion. Respondents cited the economy and the war in Iraq as the two major factors influencing their opinion.

60 percent of the Californians asked said they disapprove of how the president is handling the war in Iraq, with 38 percent approving.

The results are not much different from five prior Field polls conducted over the past year. The president´s approval rating in California peaked at 71 percent in September of 2001.
