Former Care Facility Owner Pleads No Contest To Animal Cruelty
Sacramento, CA — The former owner of an adult care facility in Loomis accused of trapping and maiming wild Canada geese has entered a no contest plea to one count of animal cruelty.
Titus Bujdei was originally charged with 22 counts, but the other charges were dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
Bujdei was arrested following reports that he was trapping the geese at the Lakeside Villa facility and cutting off their wings.
Police say allegations that Bujdei was feeding the geese to the facility´s residents were later proven to be false.
Bujdei is scheduled to be back in court October 17th, when he will be sentenced. He could face a $20,000 fine and community service.
Officials say he will likely avoid any jail time.
