Sponsored by:

Copperopolis, CA — Marijuana eradicating projects have been going on throughout Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties for several weeks and the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Office along with CAMP made a large bust last week.

The first raid was conducted at daybreak on Ponderosa Road in Glencoe and investigators discovered an elaborate growing operation at 3 different locations. 7,776 marijuana plants were eradicated and no arrests were made.

Later in the day the team conducted a raid at a ranch at the end of Horseshoe Road in Copperopolis and Rafael Zaragoza was found inside of the marijuana growing operation and arrested.

Investigators say there were 294 high quality plants in his possession and CAMP personnel say the plants were the largest their unit has seen this year.

The Sheriff´s Office says Zaragoza, who does not speak English, was not cooperative. The ranch owners were not involved in the growing operation.
