Canning Selected To Fill Vacant Council Seat

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council has a new member after Mayor David Sheppard made the appointment last night.
Planning Commissioner Bill Canning was selected by the mayor to fill the spot left vacant by Marlee Powell last month.
Canning was unanimously approved to fill the vacancy at last night´s meeting. Canning will finish out Powell´s term which ends June 30th, 2008.
Canning is scheduled to be sworn in at the Council´s September 6th meeting.
He won the mayor´s appointment over four other candidates.
