Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — San Joaquin County officials say an 86-year-old man has died of West Nile Virus, making him the state´s fourth fatality from the virus this year.

Officials did not identify the man who they say died Wednesday from complications from the virus, which is spread by mosquitoes.

The San Joaquin County West Nile Virus Task Force spread pesticide by ground in the area near Arbor Mobile Home Park — where the man lived — last night.

They planned to continue ground spraying tonight and Saturday. County officials also reported yesterday that two horses have tested positive for the virus.

Health officials say two other male adults in the county have tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of reported human cases to three.
