CHP And Sonora Police Stage Sobriety Checkpoint
Sonora, CA — CHP along with the Sonora Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Sonora this weekend.
CHP spokesman Tom Wills says officers from both agencies staff the checkpoint from 9 PM to 3 AM Friday Night, stopping vehicles as they pass through.
Wills says suspected drunk drivers will be tested using state-of-the-art breath testing devices. Those testing positive will be arrested on the spot.
CHP drug recognition experts will also be on hand to spot drivers who may be under the influence of drugs.
Police say they hope publicizing the checkpoint will deter people from drinking and driving.
The exact location of the checkpoint is not being revealed.
