Sonora Police Department Organizes Crime Awareness Event
Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department is inviting neighborhoods throughout the city to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 2nd annual “National Night Out.”
On Tuesday August 2nd the Police Department is asking residents to participate in the NNO Crime and drug prevention event.
The program is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back.
From 7pm to 10pm on August 2nd residents are asked to turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors, friends, and police officers. Police Chief Mace McIntosh invites the citizens of Sonora to join the Police Department in giving crime a going away party at Melodie´s in Sonora at 6:30 pm, just before the “National Night Out” event. The evening will be highlighted by guest speakers and crime prevention information.
